Who are those Dirtygirls (and their helpers)?
Nah, we’re not smutty magazine posers. So many times we’re asked, ‘Where did you get the name DirtyGirls?’ Okay, we’re here to tell ya. Way back when in 1998, on a weekend cycling and overnight camping trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, our camp organizer needed a way to let us know where we would be staking out for the weekend and posted a sign at our spot proclaiming ‘DirtyGirls Camp Here’. Thank goodness the sign didn’t attract inquisitive sorts to our weekend soirée. After whooping it up mountain biking on the trails of Mt. Eldon for the weekend, the original group of five friends adopted the name ‘The DirtyGirls’…and the name has stuck ever since. Throughout the years the friends have gone through thick and thin, adopted a ‘DirtyGuy’, traveled on adventures throughout the states and the world, shared injuries and scars, and lifted many a beer and glass of spirits in toast to great memories and friends. May our friendships last a lifetime!
….and we’re on our 25th year of planning this ride and we STILL enjoy each others company.
Cheers!
Janet Kerby (janet dammit!), Michelle Weigman (M2), Carie Wilson and Michelle De Haan (M1)
P.S.- We couldn’t do this ride without the support of many other cast and crew behind the scenes throughout the year. Our other heavy hands on the crew include Jon Hymer, Dave Hyson, Brian Stinson, and Paul Durazo. There are countless others out there who help us so much and we thank all of you for all you do!
